A verification on oath or affirmation is a declaration made by a customer before a Notary or notarial officer, affirming the truthfulness of a statement in a document. Unlike an oath, which involves a solemn spoken pledge to God or a Supreme Being, an affirmation is made on the signer’s personal honor without reference to a higher power.
